Wanted to share with you all my new raised garden bed. We just moved into this house in Dallas, TX and wanted to have a small garden in our yard. There is a small area out by our garage area that gets all day sun. So that was the perfect spot for it. My hubby worked all weekend n the 4th holiday to get it installed.
We also had a drip system installed to help keep the plants moist. This is a great way to water and is the way to go in Texas.
There were already tomato plants where the raised bed was built. So rather than disturb them, we just built it around them and filled in with fresh fertilized soil. Then I added sweet peppers, strawberries, basil and cucumbers to the mix.
After it was done, I just loved it.
I thought I was down with all the plantings until I found these cuties at our local Kroger grocery store. They had them out front at the entrance and I could not resist! I am a sucker for sunflowers. So I purchased some plants to put in the veggie garden, just to add an eclectic mix to it.
As I was watering the sunflower after they were planted, I saw the most beautiful butterfly land on the flower head. They were enjoying the new addition to the garden as much as I was!
Thanks for stopping by! I hope you like gardening and sunflowers as much as I do! What is your favorite veggie to plant? And you favorite Summer flower?
